THE Apple pickers’ COTTAGES

Accommodation in Māpua, Nelson

Discover Māpua accommodation at its finest with three private, self-contained cottages nestled in a wild natural setting on the shore of the beautiful tidal Waimea Inlet. Panoramic views across the estuary to mountains, vineyards, orchards and olive groves.

Located halfway between Nelson City and The Abel Tasman National park, this is a place where you can spend all day outdoors exploring the Nelson/Tasman region or where you can be completely content moving no further than the deck.

The cottages were built for apple pickers in the 1950s.  They have been carefully renovated, retaining their simplicity and authentic charm while adding contemporary comfort.

These days the apple orchard has been transformed into a haven of organic fruit trees and regenerating native coastal forest overlooking the Waimea Inlet. It's a great place to relax into the rhythm of the tides, the wildlife, the weather, yet still be only 5 minutes drive from cafés and restaurants in the coastal village of Māpua.

What our guests say

A million thanks to you for the unforgettable time we spent at your place. We have travelled a lot in our lives and your Apple Pickers’ Cottages is one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen. And as well as the beautiful landscape, it is your merit for having created such a peaceful and lovely place.

The most understated and perfect formula for relaxation.
Loved everything ....the changing tides, birds, trees, tranquility, simplicity, comfort, quails, recycling routines, perfect hosts. Came for 6 days sightseeing and ended up foraging locally and staying put in paradise

The location was stunning. The surroundings were so peaceful and relaxing, gorgeous sunrises, native birds, it was close to local attractions yet felt hidden from the world. A truly relaxing weekend retreat!
